I have just found your website thorguh a search I was doing. I just love all of your photos. They are phenomenal! Also, just last night, I booked a 10 day vacation on Sanibel after much worry about the oil spill and the ramifications it will or may have on Florida's coasts. I have decided to have a little faith and just accept what may come. I have wanted to visit Sanibel for many years and now I will get my chance in July. Nick,You are right on!! It was amazing that after all the clean-up after Charley, many still thhougt that Captive was cut in half as stated at least once that I personally heard on The Weather Channel and even once on one of our local channels!. After sending e-mails asking them to retract and correct, it was never addressed.Here we sit with absolutely PRISTINE water and beaches and declining visitors in fear of oil yet no large media voices are willing to say our coast is clear. I guess good news does not attract viewers. We've addressed the issue on our own site and also gave links to NOAA explaining the Gulf loop current. It's going to take a village, county and state to get this message out.Larry Hahn
Hi Brian, I have only recently dicrovesed this place and have been enjoying your videos in sequence (which are awesome by the way! Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us all!). I had to skip to this one however, because I noticed you talking about something that I have previously come across at work. I thought it was really interesting when I first heard about it, but didn't think about applying it to myself. (Some background: we have an online school survey evaluation system, which aims to help increase student engagement amongst other things. One of the measures we look at is this idea of flow. We can map students who take our survey on the grid you described, and show what percentage is in each quartile. The purpose of this is to help increase student engagement, student retention, achievement, and obviously happiness & mental health, and all the good things that come along with that). Anyway, my point is that even though this idea of flow was right in front of me, I didn't think of it in terms of my own happiness until you pointed it out, so I would like to say thank you for that! The concept of flow is something that has been lacking in my life for too long, and now I'm thinking about it, it is strangely something that occurs much for naturally and freely when you're younger. I think I need to get back to that.
