Public Axis #28: Anthony Torino

Recorded at the Public Axis F-Stop on December 20th, 2012 with comedian guest Anthony Torino.

00:00 It's the Night of the Apocolypse - and we canceled the crap out of it! Strap in for a healthy listen courtesy of us and the Anthony Torino Xperience!

24:26 Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! Jess has been mostly occupied with The Walking Dead game (as mentioned on Episode #12) so there's nothing new to share. Instead, we dig into our favorite non-Christmas movies to watch on Christmas. We discover that we commonly associate movies with snow as "Christmas" movies.

47:21 Dad's Corner(ed): Shook up at the idea of the WBC picketting children's funerals, Larry leads the discussion on awkward funeral moments. There are some great heartfelt moments sided with hilarity.

1:19:40 Hey, That's Not Funny! We continue to get personal as Regan asks how long would you like to live if you had the choice. Our own mortality calls for more deep dickin' discussion

Public Axis #27: Tom Simmons and Jay Whitecotton

Recorded at the Public Axis F-Stop on December 13th, 2012 with comedian guests Tom Simmons and Jay Whitecotton.

00:00 We welcome Tom and Jay to the F-Stop and get right to the chase!

17:04 Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! Jess is very much stoked the film Pacific Rim featuring giant kaiju monsters fighting giant robots called "Jaegers". So we put our brains to work to build metal beasts named after booze and give them power moves.

39:40 Dad's Corner(ed): More Christmas themed cheer! This time, Larry asks about the gift you always wanted but never got and also the worst gift you ever got. Heartbreak ensues.

1:03:14 Hey, That's Not Funny! Regan goes bug crazy once more over strange fungus and parasites that have brain controlling properties. We press on to discover what would we do with one specific task oriented brain control function.

Recorded at the Public Axis F-Stop on December 6th, 2012 with comedian guest Todd Larson.

00:00 We welcome Todd to the F-Stop and he shares his 30 Days of Sobriety experience. This isn't before Larry asks a question of preference: sex with a young overweight gal or fit cougar?

17:04 Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! With people upset about video game icon Dante's appearance in the upcoming Devil May Cry reboot, Jess suspects it's the venting of gamers with a man crush. So, guys, who's your mancrush? Ladies, who's your lady crush?

39:40 Dad's Corner(ed): Larry's daughter has finally hit the age to where she questions Santa's existence. With that, we share those great heartbreaking moments when we found out Santa doesn't exist.

1:03:14 Hey, That's Not Funny! Humans patenting human genome!? Regan brings this moral argument to the table but ultimately asks what genetic trait of your own would you patent and sell.

Recorded at the Public Axis F-Stop on November 29th, 2012 with comedian guests Raul Sanchez and Brian Gutierrez and friend Carlos Castro.

00:00 Larry and Regan had a fantastic show at the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club with Brian hosting and Raul featuring. We bring that high over to the podcast along with longtime fan/friend Carlos.

12:02 Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! In honor of the upcoming horror anthology ABCs of Death, Jess asks the group (with the assistance of Bananagrams) to conceptualize gruesome deaths starting with random letters of the alphabet.

35:21 Dad's Corner(ed): After catching a rerun of Masters of the Universe, Larry stumbles upon the magic of cartoon PSAs? Whatever happened to those? We come up with our own versions to fill the void.

53:47 Hey, That's Not Funny! Regan asks the very simple question demanding a very complex answer: Atheists and Christians: What the eff do you know about jack squat?

Recorded at the Public Axis F-Stop on November 8th, 2012 with special musical guest Michael Christopher.

00:00 We bring talented San Antonio musician, Michael Christopher, to the F-Stop! With two active music projects, You and I Underwater and Rumors, we don't like him because he's better than us. Nah, he's actually okay and he plays a few jams for us throughout the show.

22:37  Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! Jess brings Miami Connection (an awesome 80's movie with a rock band vs ninjas) to the spotlight and we talk best "worst" movies!

44:16  Dad's Corner(ed): In the light of the Elmo scandal, Larry asks , "If your child's hero turned out to be a horrible criminal, would you still let them watch their shows or play with their toys." Uncomfortable Muppet talks ensue!

1:03:56 Hey, That's Not Funny! The sucessful mission of the Curiostiy Rover (AKA Butt Rover) on Mars gets a special treat: a Wil-I-Am song sent millions of miles from Earth to Mars. Gee, thanks. What awesome song would you have rather been sent for the aliens to hear?

00:00  One of our dearest friends joins us, the crafty Ms. Kayla Kromer, creator of internet sensations such as Hamburger Bed and Millennium Falcon Bed. Her run-ins with famous people upset Larry but we eventually get the show rolling.

18:49  Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! The guys do some major dorking out over Scott Campbell's picture book, "The Great Showdowns."

36:18  Dad's Corner(ed): We laugh and cry over shattered memories of embarrassing sick moments. Tragic, very tragic, indeed.

1:01:30 Hey, That's Not Funny! The elections are finally over and with that, we discuss why white people hate us so much us. (?!)

15:40  Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! With Halloween coming soon, Jess and the crew talk about the best flicks to watch for the Halloween season. "Hey, let's watch Freddy Krueger, dawg! I'm gonna be Friday the 13th for Halloween!"

46:53  Dad's Corner(ed): Larry loves Halloween, costumes and all! What's the best costume that you've ever worn, bro?

1:00:06 Hey, That's Not Funny! Ol' Mittens is at it again with some silly comment taken out of proportion. As a result, Regan asks if you had to organize all the women in your life into three binders, what would they be labeled?

10:29  Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! In New Little King's Story, a magical crown gives a king unlimted charm powers that allows him to rule his subjects without question. Jess uses this ridiculous premise to set up the question, 'If you were a king/queen, would you rule with a soft hand or an iron fist'?

26:04  Dad's Corner(ed) is back and Larry talks about his kids' attempts to crack him up. So we ask what dumb things did you do as a kid to make your parents laugh? Heartbreaks and mouth harps ensue.

47:24 Hey, That's Not Funny! With the vast technological advancements in the medical field, Regan asks what ordinary everyday electronics that we use for fun will be used to keep us healthy?

00:00  We welcome Ms. Alexandra Amrien on board, introduce the usage of the word "panaydos" and establish our g'damn professionalism.

15:29  Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! Jess reviews One Piece: Pirate Warriors, a game based on a popular anime where a pirate has super rubber powers but is weakend by salt water. What awesome power would you have that would come equipped with a dumb ironic curse?

30:21  Dad's Corner(ed) takes a break this week. Instead, Larry talks about his misadventures in the Rio Grande Valley where he has a make-your-own-pizza and poker party with a vampire while buying smokes with a racist zombie. True story. What randomn ordinary thing would you do with a monster and what monster would it be?

Recorded at the Public Axis F-Stop on September, 20th, 2012 with special guest, Paul Hernandez.

00:00  This week's guest is not a comedian, actor or anything in particular - just a great friend who speaks bluntly and love him some BBWs, a passion we press simple questions on.

15:29  Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! Resident Evil 6 is almost here and Jess asks which global corporation will surely doom us all?

30:21  Dad's Corner(ed).  Larry asks what is more important to keep your children away from in modern media: sex or violence?

47:58  Hey, That's Not Funny! Good ol' Mittens Romney speaks frankly about the 47% of Americans he could care less for and it gets caught on tape. Reg asks what horrible things do you have on tape that would shame you in public?

1:02:58 Back to the subject of fluffy people, we ask the ladies of Facebook which do they prefer; athletic built guys or dudes with some meat on their bones. Then, Paul gives us some more insight on the life of a chubby chaser.

Recorded at the Public Axis F-Stop on September, 16th, 2012 with special guests, fellow CAGG member, Dianah McGreehan.

00:00  For those of you not schooled in the ways of CAGG, Di is a long time member of the group and she can definatly hang with the big boys. This massive episode is all kinds of Hidden Valley Raunch!

15:21  Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat! This past weekend, Jess had his own "Throwback Saturday" by revisiting Jet Set Radio (the HD re-release of a Dreamcast classic), Gremlins 2 (the movie, not the awesome NES game) and some Peter Piper Pizza. One of these wasn't as great as he remembered. What are some things from back in the day that aren't as good they used to be?

47:43  Dad's Corner(ed).  Larry comes face to face with his daugther's prickish teacher and it reminds him of shitty teachers from his younger years. What are some horrible teacher memories that you have?

1:10:53  Hey, That's Not Funny! A controversial short film about Muhammad has driven radical Islamic Libyan extremists to violence. So Regan asks, in a timely fashion, which religious sect in the world can take a joke the least.

23:45 Larry introduces a new segment called "2 Far, 2 Soon", where we hit on topics that steer comedy into forbiden areas as the title suggests. This week, we observe a questionable political cartoon and ask "Racist or Accurate?"

38:23 Mayor Julian Castro (San Antonio) as President of the US?! NAHHH, YOU THOUGHT, YOU THOUGHT! It's all in this Regan's "Hey, That's Not Funny"

Blood Cousins Trailer is Finally Here!

Friends and Fans of Comedia A Go-Go,

It's here! Finally, we're happy to give you a small taste of our latest grand project, BLOOD COUSINS!

Here is the trailer for our first full length feature! Blood Cousins Trailer#1

http://youtu.be/2FbRdd4UqGo

About BLOOD COUSINS

When the anniversary of their grandmother's death arrives, four cousins who are as close as brothers use it as an opportunity to reconnect on a road trip to the Texas Rio Grande Valley in an effort to pay their respects and visit distant relatives. As they close in on their destination, they learn about their family's shrouded past, why they were kept at a distance and uncover dark secrets and family problems that wearily tread the line between real issues and unreal powers. What begins as a long drive filled with laughter and memories ends in a chaotic culmination of past and present transgressions. In a film that blends comedy, Mexican folklore and terror - BLOOD COUSINS puts a new spin on the typical revenge film in this story that defines the word retribution.

With a menial budget of $5,000 and a shooting schedule where we had to work around full time jobs, having kids, buying houses and major injuries – we have put together a film that uses humor and terror to tell a story of revenge.

We'll be posting updates, blogs, pics, music and all sorts of goodies right here, until we get a fully functional site up for the film. We can't wait for you to see this movie! We're proud of the work that we have done and we think you'll enjoy it!

Public Axis #6: Paula Ybarra

Recorded at Reg's Place, May 24th, 2012 with guest and fellow CAGG member Paula Ybarra!

  • Miss Paula Ybarra hits us up with a hip-hop infused poem and inspires us to speak in cholo cliches for majority of the podcast.
  • Jess tries to explain the game Asura's Wrath to the crew. They have a hard time wrapping their mind around fighting a giant finger.
  • When will Jesus ever get a cool video game? We dig deep to find the answer!
  • Larry and Paula ask "Why is freesytle music so appealing...to thugs?"
  • Larry's Dad's Corner(ed) treads over the trend of kids recording fights with cellphones then we ask "When is it okay to punch a kid?"

A fucking hoot, as always! Here are your supplements, bitches!

Public Axis #3: Roman Garcia, Johnny Luna & Joel Settles [LIVE]

Recorded live at the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club on April 19th, 2012 with guests Roman Garcia, Johnny Luna and our own Joel Settles.

Bamn!

  • While being introduced, our own Joel Settles goes on an (un)focused rant on Mitt Romney.

  • Jess talks backwoods horror films and a spoiler-free endorsment of Cabin in the Woods in this week's "Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat!"

  • In "Dad's Corner(ed)", Larry gets baffled about why the Nickelodeon show, Victorious, is referencing The Breakfast Club - a movie that's older than its target audience.

Here are the companion links!

Public Axis #2: Jay Whitecotton

Recorded at the Reg's Place (San Antonio, TX) on April 5, 2012.

This week, we brought in our good friend Jay Whitecotton in for a home recording in our continued efforts to "grip the format". And here we go:

  • With The Hunger Games making a big splash, Jess takes time to pimp the US release of Japanese cult favorite Battle Royale in this weeks "Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat!". Then we reveal who'd kill first in a game of death...or any game for that matter.

  • "Wah, why are they remaking *blank*? They're just going to ruin it and buttfuck my childhood!" Really? Are they that bad or have they been rehashing shit longer than you think?

  • Word on the street is that Russia is developing a "zombie gun", a gun that turns people into zombies. Somehow, this leads into talks of the future of pornography (which is robots watching humans have sex) and how the Richest Man in the World gets off. Fascinating.

  • In Larry's "Dad's Corner(ed)", we mow over the phenomenon of "bullying". Is this something that society needs to work together to dissipate or are we just creating a soft world full of soft people? Personal experiences are shared and Regan reveals he hates Star Trek literature.

  • Club Comics vs. Alternative Comics. As Larry puts it so well, "[They're] the same, just doing different things." Eh. We think there's more to it than that.

Let us know what you think, folks. Any improvements, suggestions? Comment, yo!

The CAGG crew put on their first live edition of the Public Axis with special guests Cleto Rodriguez, Alex "Kool-Aid" Ansel, Jay Whitecotton and Quinn Dahle.

The brief rundown, if we may:
  • We apologize in advance for the lack of visual descriptions for the live show. We'll get better at that.

  • Kool-Aid dissects the "Locos Tacos" from Taco Bell and we all profess our love for Bill Miler's BBQ girls.

  • In Larry's "Dad's Corner", he gets upset about hoodrats teaching kids about vegtables with freestyle in a clip from the Disney show, Choo-Choo Soul.

This is it, the preview beta prototype episode of PUBLIC AXIS! To prep up for their upcoming NEW talk show/podcast, the guys from Comedia A Go-Go make an effort to "grip the format".

Quick Breakdown!

  • Larry, Regan & Jess give a quick CAGG history lesson and tell all about what to expect from Public Axis
  • Jess breezes over Canadian fantasy sports and racially insensitive video games in "Yeah, Imma Look Into Dat!"

  • Jesus "Who Farted" Mendoza stops by and talks about the Funniest Person in South Texas competition.
  • The guys answer your questions from FB and talk way too long about sex farts. Naturally.

MAJOR THANKS to World War V for letting us use their incredible song, "The 4th Estate", as the Public Axis theme. (www.theworldwarfive.com)
